The Musée d’Art et d’Histoire is a large museum with more than 1 million of interesting objects that represent the history of Western culture and civilization from antiquity to the present day. The museum is located in a modern and spacious building, and the visitor can easily spend a few hours studying the interesting exhibits.
At the main entrance there is a reception where you can get an audio guide available in several languages: French, German or English, for 5 CHF, which will accompany you throughout the museum. The audio tour takes about 1.5 hours, and helps visitors learn more about the history of Geneva and Western civilization in general. The museum also has a restaurant and a playground, as well as free lockers and toilets on the ground floor. In the near future, the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire will be completely renovated and updated. Admission to the museum is free for all.
The small restaurant on the ground floor offers to the visitors simple dishes as well as fruits, juices, tea, coffee and desserts. The museum building also has a beautiful little island where you can relax, have a snack or a drink.
Next to the restaurant is the playground where you can conveniently leave your children so they can play, while you visit the museum.
